Meet Kerra Coticchia of Kaizen Bridal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerra Coticchia.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We started as an education company, Kaizen Education and then created our bridal division, Kaizen Bridal based upon our high demand of brides. Kaizen Education is comprised of a team of talented stylists that all specialize in something different like hair cutting, hair coloring, styling, makeup etc. Many of t stylists also work with Kaizen Bridal.

We offer an array of classes which include a Bridal Styling class so other licensed cosmetologists can challenge their artistry. We work out of Reverie Salon in River North which is also a Sal Misseri salon. This gives us the opportunity to work with brides throughout their entire engagement period all the way up to the wedding day.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
You always learn as you go with helping start up a new business.

Sometimes things you thought were a great idea don’t always turn out. Understanding the time it takes to perfect your marketing, social media, and even your team have been great lessons to learn and help us grow.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am the Artistic Director of Styling for Kaizen Bridal as well as the manager of our bridal team. I am a hairstylist and a makeup artist. I would say I specialize in different curling and pinning techniques. There are so many ways to style hair it’s fun to choose the perfect style for a bride. I would say I’m most proud of how far we have come over a short period of time.

When I look back on all of the professional photos we have gathered for our portfolio it makes me happy to see so many satisfied clients. I would say something that sets me apart is that I am very patient with my brides and my ability, to be honest with them about what will be best for their hair on their wedding day.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Gathering as much information possible from our clients greatly contributes to our success. On someone’s wedding day there are so many moving parts and other vendors its important to keep them on the right schedule.

So, we try to make sure to communicate about their timeline way in advance. I also think that it’s important for us to remember that this is a happy moment for our client so we always keep our time together light and fun!
