Today we’d like to introduce you to Justine Zhou.
Justine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have lived half my life in Shanghai and half my life in Chicago. My life experiences have helped me develop a unique perspective when it comes to financial advising. I grew up during the Cultural Revolution in China with few material possessions, which has given me a strong understanding of what is important. I studied Economics at the Fu Dan University before pursuing an MBA at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on a full scholarship. In 1993, I immigrated to the U.S. and began my career in Chicago real estate while simultaneously raising three wonderful children. My strengths as a mother have formed the way I approach financial planning. I want to provide my clients with a deeper understanding of their personal financial story.
These past 25 years of experience as a real estate broker, an insurance consultant, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), has taught me that the financial advising process is so much more than a conversation about numbers; it requires an advisor who will take the time and care to get to know your personal situation and create the right plan for you. I love what I do because I have the ability to transform this stressful, complex process into a simple, pleasant experience that reflects what matters to you most.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth, to say the least. During the last 25 years, I had a few business dissolved, I had a few court battles, a divorce, a bankruptcy. The biggest struggle will be doing business in a country that I am an immigrant. I was very ignorant in the beginning.
