Meet Julie Starck of Erasistable Vintage Rentals & Styling in Northwest Suburb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Starck.

Julie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At some point in time, everyone has an interesting story to tell about their journey of self-discovery and mine began as a small child. I have always been what one might call a “girly girl”, but there’s a rustic side of me too. I have a love for whimsical furniture, antiques, color, design, fashion and one of my favorite past times is home and event design. I will forever be in touch with my inner child that helped frame the vintage style that dwells inside my heart today. As far back as I can remember, I was accessorizing and repurposing whatever treasure I could find. My Barbie dream house was top notch! I would spend hours assembling, staging and beautifying each room until I could step back and say “Wow, now that’s a dream house”.

My passion for design grew exponentially over the years: I currently have 20 plus years in the design and management field, and I love every aspect of it. They say if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life.

Along my journey, I met some amazing women in the design industry and to this day we call ourselves “The Sister’s of Sofa” [You know who you are! XOXO] it was this group that dubbed me the “Party Queen”. It’s all about the details at EVR, we love making your dream day uniquely your own.

My clients become like family to me. I’m always looking for that little creative touch to add just that perfect wow factor. Yesterday was Earth Day, so I delivered to my bride’s home an early morning picnic basket with champagne and vintage glasses, fresh pastries and cuttings from my perennial garden to plant in her yard in memory of her wedding day.

Loving life with my hubby, 8 combined children and 9 grandchildren, makes for great moments of love & laughter. Travel, exploring, good food and treasure hunting rank high on our list!

All have blessed my life exponentially!

Albert Einstein once said “I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination”. And, it is my imagination that draws me to create this vision…

ERASISTABLE VINTAGE RENTALS.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning balance and discipline have been one of my obstacles. All of us in the creative mind club have to rein ourselves in from time to time from our explosive colorful world of creativity, to do the menial tasks like book keeping and inventory.

Erasistable Vintage Rentals & Styling – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
EVR is a unique business built out of passion and love for the beautiful treasures from the past. Each piece in our inventory is carefully selected and has a story to tell. Every person who visits our warehouse sees something that sparks a memory from their past, and they usually share their story with us.

We have so many beautiful pieces in our inventory, from antique sofas to beautiful mismatched vintage china.

Our vintage china has become one of our signature rentals. Each and every piece is carefully inspected for just the right look, color, and perfect condition. We also have vintage glassware and flatware, our brides love the look!

We are proud to say we truly put our heart into what we do. It is a true passion , from the personal selecting , the hand washing of china, to our genuine caring that you feel we have done our very best to treat your event as if it where our very own.

We always find a few unique special touches to surprise our clients and it always brings a smile to their face!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment and most memorable was the day a sweet little elderly lady looked up at me and said “I can’t remember the last time I held a real tea cup in my hand”

I facilitate The Red Hat Society at my mother’s nursing home every month. In December we held a Christmas Tea, complete with porcelain tea cups, silver tea urns, vintage china and linen napkins. While I was serving, she squeezed my arm and thanked me, telling me how she missed those days. Plastic and Styrofoam are their norm now, so to hold a real tea cup and saucer was a hint of her world and days gone by.
