Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce Feuer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joyce. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve lived and worked in Chicago my whole life. I used to own Joyce’s Hallmark in Hyde Park which sold invitations, balloons and gifts along with the traditional cards one imagines at a Hallmark store. In fact, President Obama bought Malia’s first teddy bear from me on his way to the hospital.
When it came time for change, the invitation and balloon business I’d created at Hallmark were a lot of the same clients who were planning Bar or Bat Mitzvahs. Throughout the years, the Hallmark store had connected me with a variety of event specialists including florists, decorators and caterers. So, the transition from Hallmark store into Event Planning was fairly seamless. And I have my first client, Nancy Peltzman, to thank for asking me to fill the position of planning their event.
Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, it’s been very rewarding as well as challenging. It seems with every event there is something noteworthy or unique, so that keeps things interesting. And when we say: “We’ve seen it all.” — it’s not an exaggeration. Events are like a live performance on a stage; sometimes things just happen.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Joyce’s Event and Party Planning story. Tell us more about the business.
Joyce’s Events is a full service, one-stop-shop event planning company. What sets us apart from others is our meticulous attention to details, which creates a smooth, seamless event.
Every client is different, so we can plan the entire event, attending all meetings and handling all contracts. Or we can work with them on day of planning. Happy to help in any way possible.
We are proud to take the stress out of the event planning process. We specialize in making each event uniquely tailored for each client.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We have seen all sorts of events over the past 17 years. One thing rings true: Make the event uniquely yours and it will be perfect.
