Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Zuckerman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Joshua. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born into the home improvement business. My parents own and run Lakeshore Paint and Patio in South Haven, MI and I grew up around home improvement retail and contractors of all types. In addition, my parents built their own home, a geodesic dome, in the late 70s and always had me engaged with building projects from childhood. In college, I was more interested in social development over physical, where I studied International Relations at Southern Illinois University and an MA in Coexistence and Conflict from Brandeis University. However, in my career outside of academia, I was always found working on a physical project, getting my hands dirty one way or another with a hammer or shovel. I spent most of my professional career living overseas working on development projects in Israel and India, having spent most my time in Israel working for two different organizations. EcoPeace, a non profit that seeks to build relations between Jordanians, Palestinians and Israelis through the restoration of the Jordan River and at Kibbutz Lotan working at the Center for Creative Ecology (CfCE), a permaculture research institute that teaches participants from all over the world sustainable development in the trades of sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, green construction, sustainable water management systems and community development.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been rather smooth, but that’s not without the occasional pothole Chicago is a really strong market and the housing market has made a decent rebound since the market crash. However, green and sustainable construction is not as hot in Chicago as it is in another place in the U.S. such as San Francisco or New York City. We have had to come up with an educational sales model that doesn’t just say I can build x, y, and z for you at a certain price rather here is the science and the rationality of why it is better to build green.
Please tell us about Endless Greens.
Endless Greens offers sustainable design and installation services for the home and garden. In short, we are general contractors with our own design and install team. We help clients with home improvement projects, whether inside or outside of the home. We work on projects of all sizes and budgets and try to deliver the best possible customer service, best practices in construction, and the healthiest choices for our environment. Our specialization lies within residential home improvement projects and we are known for our strong knowledge in green building and landscaping. As a company, I am most proud of the people that we are able to hire and share our knowledge with. Our crew, present, and past, has made Endless Greens what it is today. There are many features that set Endless Greens apart from others in our field, beyond our expertise and the love we have for the trade, running an employee-owned business and our ability to give back to Chicago in the form of supporting the non-profit I Grow Chicago really sets us apart.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Most of my favorite childhood memories come from the summers I spent in South Haven, MI, and the beautiful community that it hosts.

Yes Parker Ameel is my nephew and I hope he will be home to Boyne City, MI. to work some of his magic here in my yard. Maybe some of my husbands, his Uncle, tools has helped to do some of the projects shown in this article. Keep up the good “GREEN” work you are all doing. Good Job!
