Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Castillo.
Jorge, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Castillo landscape was started in 1995 by my father Sergio Castillo. It all began with one small truck and endless hours of labor my father endured in order to provide for our family. He started off in our Melrose Park neighborhood by mowing his coworkers’ and family friends’ lawns. When I was around ten years old, I started to tag along with my father. During this time, I learned from his hard work ethic by working alongside him. When I began high school I started to notice well known landscaping companies throughout the area. This is when my vision began, I wanted to become as great as them one day. I knew if I was going to make my dream become a reality, I would not only have to work hard, but also smart. I decided to pursue a degree in horticulture. Through my education I have been given many opportunities to expand my knowledge in this field. I have now established a large clientele base and I operate a full service landscaping company. My company has provided services to thousands of commercial and residential locations throughout the Chicagoland area. As an entrepreneur, I am pleased to see my business succeed and I am determined to become one of the largest landscaping companies. Whatever the future may hold, the roots of this company will always lie within the foundation my father built from the very beginning.
Has it been a smooth road?
Becoming an entrepreneur has definitely had its challenges. Learning the ins and outs of running a business has been a learning experience. The challenges have varied from something as large as tackling record breaking blizzards to something as small as meeting deadlines. Overall, these challenges have motivated me to become a better entrepreneur for my business and for my clients.
