Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Carroll.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am an adult with ADHD. I was a Special Education teacher and saw an opportunity to help individuals with ADHD and Executive Functioning challenges in the private sector. I decided to open my own private practice around 14 years ago and have been helping clients ever since. My business has grown and I’m helping clients all over the world of all ages and backgrounds.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think anytime one leaves a steady paycheck for a new business is always a challenge. Being a one-man solar system presents its challenges. It is important to constantly seek and develop opportunities. If I do not do this, my business will struggle.
Carroll Educational Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I help clients better understand and manage ADHD and Executive Functioning Challenges. I also help families navigate Special Education. I am getting a very solid reputation in these areas and get referrals from several professionals.
It is great to see my idea turn into a successful business. I love helping people and the fact that I get paid for this work is a bonus.
I think I offer a unique perspective to clients because I’ve walked in his/her shoes. I have ADHD and also had learning challenges in school, so I get the challenges my clients face on a regular basis.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of my clients struggled academically and socially. She was also rejected from a local high school for admission. Through her diligence she was accepted to Sarah Lawrence College. A great story about our connection and her willingness to improve her performance.
