Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Larson.
Jon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got my first DSLR camera about five years ago for family events and trips. A hobby most would say. I was in love! I slowly started finding new ways to view people and the world through the lens. I did many small shoots for families working on my craft before I jumped into the wedding world. About a year after getting my camera and mastering, the functions I booked my first wedding.
Has it been a smooth road?
Anything of value or worth will have obstacles and challenges that is how growth occurs. Some of the challenges I have faced was learning to adapt to the rapid growth of my business.
The main struggle has been balancing my home life with my busy business life. Keeping my family involved with my schedule and always remembering at the end of the day family is my priority. My fuel. My motivation.

I specialize in wedding and portrait photography. I’m best known for and compliment most on my OCF (Off Camera Flash) Sunset photos with the bride and groom are a staple in my wedding coverage. The main thing I am most proud as a company is that I am self-taught and am fearless to go against the grain.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chicago is a great city to do business. There are many opportunities to capture beautiful photos. I wouldn’t recommend starting out in a large city. I would begin small and become familiar with people, personality and position. You have to be quick thinking at times during a wedding and I feel starting out you might lose moments because of the pressure.
