Today we’d like to introduce you to John Webb.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up with many dogs and cats, I learned first-hand the importance of proper maintenance and care for pets. My first experience working with animals came as a kennel assistant and bather while attending Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Shortly after I started working as a kennel assistant, I knew my passion for dogs would propel me to a career that I would love. After graduating from Saint Ambrose University with a degree in Marketing, we set a goal for a career and our own business in the animal industry.
Not knowing exactly where to start, I decided to look into the grooming industry. I attended a dog grooming school located in Arlington Heights. While attending grooming school, I endured a 500+ hour program where I learned everything from nail trims and ear cleaning to breed standard haircuts and animal CPR. Following graduation from grooming school, I began to build a clientele of loyal customers while working at grooming salons in St. Charles and Geneva. After 5 years of grooming, Lindsay and I decided to take the next step and open a salon of our own called Just For Paws.
Just For Paws opened in November 2014. Over the last 3 years, we have been fortunate to have the wonderful support of the community.
Without this support, we would not have been able to recently expand our pet salon to include a boutique. Just For Paws is now able to provide a variety of products for your pet’s needs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our pet salon has been acknowledged, through multiple local awards, as one of the best pet salons in the area. Most recently, I was one of the recipients of the Kane County Chronicles’ Best Under 40 award. It was a huge honor to be recognized among my peers. Even though I was acknowledged for the award, I couldn’t have won it without our wonderful staff. Just For Paws is lucky to have an awesome team who is able to provide top-notch grooming to the community. Having such great support from our clients has allowed us to recently expand our operations to include a pet boutique which specializes in high-quality dog food and treats, fun gifts, and unique pet products not found in other stores. Promoting a healthier pet is our main goal.

Having worked in the pet industry for over 10 years, we have seen our share of various health ailments in pets. Just For Paws wants to promote a healthier lifestyle for your pet. Whether it is through routine grooming or offering high-quality pet food and treats, Just For Paws is now a one-stop shop for your pet’s needs. More than ever, pets are considered an important part of the family. As a pet service provider, it is a joy to be able to watch a client’s pet grow up other the years. We hope to make those years as healthy as possible.

The fun never stops. We are always planning for the future but right now we are focusing on our new pet boutique. Having grown our operation has been a lot of hard work and time commitment but we are continuing to strive to offer unique products for your pets.
