Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Shrader.
Steve Shrader laid the foundation for the business back in 2002 when he began selling tee shirts to the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department out of the back of his car. Business grew and he eventually bought a van to help expand his selection. In 2009, he opened Shrader’s Goods in Mount Greenwood. Steve passed away in January of 2010. At the time, many family members worked together to keep the business alive until April 2011 when Joe and his wife, Dina took over the business. The shop currently offers firefighter apparel for the entire family from infant to adult. We feel we have Chicago’s largest selection of CFD apparel available. Launching of a website, EBay store, and Facebook page have continued to help the business grow. The Shrader’s Goods van still visits firehouses 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any business, there have been struggles. Early on, we had to invest heavily in inventory to expand our selection and keep the business running. We knew the business would grow but it required both our investment in time and money.

I think we have covered what we do. Our commitment is real. We feel privileged to be able to take care of the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department and suburban departments. We truly feel blessed in this regard. Steve Shrader built this business on top quality and outstanding service and we strive everyday to continue to carry on this tradition. We take our responsibility to the fire service very seriously. It’s an honor to serve those who serve so many.

We are happy to do business in Chicago. We do feel that Chicago certainly has the customer base available for any business to thrive. You must also have a passion to succeed.
