Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe DiLauro.
Joe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As many people would agree, being given challenges in life can ultimately serve as a great reward. Those challenges became clearly apparent to me after the fallout that America’s Great Recession caused. After being permanently laid off from what I once thought to be a secure job and a solid means of raising a family, I suddenly found myself mulling over options with starting over and finding a new career at the age of 44. I decided that it was time that I stopped relying on other people to secure a living and my family’s future. Not long after that, Black Pearl Sealcoating Inc. was born. In the year 2010 I started out with customer one, and gradually over time, with the help of a great support team and hardworking employees, our company has securely staked its claim as a successful mainstay in a stable industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is rarely smooth. One of the greatest struggles I’ve found along the way is time management, so that I may be personally engaged with every customer.

We are a full service asphalt maintenance company. Black Pearl Sealcoating Inc. is comprised of performing general asphalt repairs, sealcoating, line striping and pavement crack sealing. We are very proud of our outstanding reputation, which includes an A rating with the Better Business Bureau, along with 2 of the top lead sources available in the state of Illinois. What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
