Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jill Ingelse. Her team shares her story with us below.
Please kick things off for us, we’d love to hear the story.
Dr. Ingelse graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in 1998. She was resident-trained in pediatrics and binocular vision. She was named Clinician of the Year. After graduation, Dr. Ingelse purchased a small office on Western Ave. where she opened Meyer Eyecare and stayed for a few years to grow her practice. She then moved 2 blocks south on Western to a slightly bigger office where she continued to grow and add staff.
In 2010, she took a leap of faith and moved her practice 2 doors north to the historic Opera House where her clinic is currently located. Dr. Ingelse doubled her office space, hired a second optometrist, and added more staff to better serve her growing clientele from all over the south suburbs of Chicago. She is currently in the process of opening a new vision therapy clinic – the Neurosensory Vision Integration Clinic – which will help patients of all ages with learning issues, traumatic brain injuries, eye turns, sports performance, and more.
Dr. Ingelse has a heart for helping all of her patients. She wants her patients to SEE The DIFFERENCE in the quality of care and compassion they receive as a patient at Meyer Eyecare. At our office, S.E.E. stands for Service: making each patient feel special, Exciting: making each patient experience easy and fun, and Educational: helping each patient understand more about their vision and vision needs. Our customer service vision statement is as follows: “Meyer Eyecare is committed to using our God-given abilities to guide our patients throughout their lives with clear, comfortable vision.” We see patients of all ages and stages of life – from the youngest infant to our oldest patient who is 99.

We accept most vision plans and many medical plans and try to help patients best utilize their insurance. We also have a Vision Discount Program and Eye Injury Plan which we offer to local businesses.
Dr. Ingelse enjoys helping the community by being involved in different events and activities and supporting the work of various local organizations.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. There have been “bumps” along the way. In addition to the “growing pains” that are usually experienced as a practice expands, it is a constant struggle to keep up with the newest technology developments and latest research.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Meyer Eyecare – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Meyer Eyecare tries to set itself apart from chain stores by providing personalized care and a true interest in the lives and needs of our patients. We are proud when our patients tell us how much they appreciate that they receive our full attention when they are here.
