Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Hosey.
Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story starts in my last year of college at The University of Illinois at Chicago. I was teaching mental health education to high school freshmen and finally tapping into what I’d been studying for the past 4 years. The job was stressful and I took to heart the struggles and hardships of the students. At that moment, I knew I wanted to help people in a different, more uplifting way. My Mom was in real estate and I always had an interest in the industry. Now, my family runs a successful commercial paving company so that drive for entrepreneurship runs in my family. I knew I wanted to be a business owner and use my education to help my clients through a stressful but exciting time in their lives. Four weeks after graduating college, I received my real estate license. My first year was full of firsts and without a doubt, a learning curve. I immersed myself in the industry and met some amazing people that I was able to learn from. I waitressed my way through my first year while I was building my business. In my first year, I won Rookie of the Year for Chicago and I couldn’t believe it! I was able to transition into real estate full time during my second year and things really started to take off. My goal was to create a brand that’s unique to me. I wanted to bring a level of service and care that gives my clients a sense of calmness and confidence during the process. I focused on relationships and not transactions which helped build a great referral network. I get to work with fabulous people who refer me to other fabulous people. It’s a great feeling!
Has it been a smooth road?
Real estate is a roller coaster! It takes a lot of initiative, self teaching and hard work. Every client, every house, and every transaction is different. There is no shortage of interesting problems that arise during the process! I’m always learning something new but sometimes things aren’t always black and white. You’re dealing with one of the largest purchases a person will make and you want it to be a smooth process. Sometimes there are things out of my control and it can be a stressful, bumpy ride! It always works out in the end and I think that’s what most rewarding about my job. My clients are happy to know that I’m by their side through the stressful times.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jennifer Hosey Real Estate – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is focused on providing the highest level service to my clients during the purchase or sale (or both!) of their home. I specialize in educating and guiding my clients through the process from beginning to end with a high level of communication and care. I’m proud of the referral business that I’ve created. Having amazing clients that refer me to their family and friends is the biggest compliment. With my background in counseling & psychology, I’m in tune with emotions and have a knack for listening and helping people. Whether it’s in counseling or in real estate, they both require a level of care and connection. This is huge part of what sets me a part from other Realtors.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago is a great place for selling Real Estate! The market moves quickly, the city is exciting and people want to be in midst of the action. For being such a big city, it feels small at the same time. People talk to their neighbors and run into each other at the grocery store. They love to know what’s going on around their neighborhood and every Chicagoan will tell you their neighborhood is the best! That’s what so unique about the city. Each neighborhood has a different feel and offers a unique experience. New construction has picked up drastically and everyone’s excited about that. I would say the only things I don’t like about the city is the traffic and winter weather! I guess that’s what Midwest city living will give you! I truly adore this city though. The lake, amazing restaurant scene and never-ending list of events & street festivals make Chicago an incredible place to call home.
