Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Flynn.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a firefighter/paramedic and k9 handler for FEMA. In 2009 I broke my neck fighting a fire and had to retire from the fire department and k9 search and rescue. I needed something to do and decided to start training other peoples dogs and boarding them. We have an indoor pool that is available year round for those that like to swim. I train dogs and am competing on the world Ipo FCI team in Rheine Germany in Septmenber.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Doing anything with a disability is hard. Financially starting a business is time consuming and monitarily draining. Clients can be difficult.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fountain of Woof – what should we know?
My specialty is picking a puppy and training it from the ground up based on a clients needs. I am proud of keeping th ecompany small and keeping boarding and training personal.
We have a vet K9 swim and Trim with Dr. Barb Fuglslang here 7 days a week for therapy swimming that joined our team in 2015.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Resiliency and persistence.
