Meet Jen Bazan of TheraCORE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Bazan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My business partner, Amy Goebbert and I, started TheraCORE 9 years ago with one idea in mind: We wanted to be able to treat our patients one on one. We wanted to be able to deliver hands on, personalized care. We wanted to start an outpatient physical therapy company in the south suburbs that patients would come to, to find that they would see the same physical therapist each visit. That rehab goals would be set together and that they would be given the right tools to make sure they were successful both in the clinic, and at home. Amy and I have worked very hard to establish TheraCORE to be different from large chain companies. We knew from the very beginning that we wanted to emphasize wellness in adjunct with injury rehabilitation. Within the first year of opening up our Lockport facility, we added a fitness center to our clinic and brought on both a massage therapist and registered dietitian. We believe that each aspect of an individual’s health needs to be addressed in order for them to properly heal. We take pride in the relationships that we have made with the physicians and local business professionals in the area and strive every day to deliver outstanding, personalized treatment to our patients.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think our biggest struggle has been delivering our message to physicians on how we do stand apart from large chain physical therapy companies. Being a small business, we don’t have the “big” means of advertising. Instead, we truly believe our patients’ success stories are our biggest marketing tool. We have numerous patients referred from physicians that we have been able to establish a professional relationship with due to our treatment techniques and our individualized attention. We also have many patients that are referred from past patients, friends and family which we believe is the biggest compliment.

Another large struggle has been insurance reimbursement. It is becoming more difficult to get reimbursed by insurance companies for the services we provide our patients. We want to see our patients achieving their movement goals and sometimes visit limits or monetary limits get in the way of this. We are very cognizant of our goal setting, patient progress, and functional outcomes to ensure our patients get the care that is needed.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with TheraCORE – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
TheraCORE is an outpatient physical therapy company. We have three clinics located in Lockport, Westmont, and Burr Ridge. Our Lockport facility was our first clinic, established in 2008. We specialize in manual therapy techniques. We strongly believe in the importance of seeing the same PT each visit and hold our patients accountable for attending regularly scheduled PT visits and participating in their home exercise programs.

We are very proud of our staff. Our physical therapists, massage therapists, dietitian, office managers, and aide staff truly preach our motto: “Dedicated, personalized care is at the core of your experience.” We are very proud to say that our patients are primarily referred from previous patients. We believe this is a true testament of the care we deliver.

Despite being a small company, each one of our PT’s have their own niche. We are trained in the Graston Technique, We have a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist on our staff. We treat Pre and Post-surgical, Sports Rehabilitation, Orthopedic Injuries, Work Conditioning, Neck and Back Pain, Custom Orthotics, Women’s Health ACL Injury Prevention, Overhead Throwing Rehab, Vestibular Therapy, Personal Injury Cases, Graston Technique and Aquatic Therapy.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of our city. I love that I have the most prestigious MD’s and medical staff to refer my patients to in order to ensure they have the best opportunity for success in their rehab.

I love the diversity of individuals in our city. No two patients of mine are alike, with different careers, home life and expectations.

Now if you asked my co-workers, they would tell you that what I like least about the city…is all the people! I admit, I’m a chicken when it comes to stepping out of my comfort zone and attending a big function in the city, but they have shown me so many different events such as yoga at Revolution Brewery, the opening of the new Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier, Concerts at Northerly Island, lunch at the Yacht club, biking along the lake and of course, the upcoming Dikta Dash we are all participating in.
