Meet Jeffrey Bondora and Jessica Zaucha of BZA Behavioral Health in Schaumburg and Lake in the Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Bondora and Jessica Zaucha.

Jeffrey and Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After graduating from graduate school in 2005 from Loyola University Chicago, my partner Jessica and I, both set out on different paths providing counseling support to various populations for several years. In 2012, our paths crossed and we decided to open up our own psychological practice, Bondora, Zaucha and Associates (later to be named BZA Behavioral Health). Our vision: to offer incredible client care and support to children, teens, parents and adults and continuously seek to de-stigmatize mental health. While starting out as 2 therapists in a 300 square foot office in Palatine, we quickly expanded our clientele and services and eventually opened up a larger office in Schaumburg. This past January, we opened up our second location in Lake In The Hills, to offer counseling services to McHenry County as well. We also further expanded our Schaumburg location. As of August, of this year, we will have 13 clinicians including Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Counselors, Psychologists and Doctoral Interns between 2 locations. Additionally, we have 2 office staff that are integral to our business success. We continue to expand our staff as well as our services to suit our client needs.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business isn’t easy but it does appear to be much more attractive from the onset. Once you’re fully immersed in the day-to-day grind, you’re reminded regularly the difficulties establishing as well as maintaining a successful service oriented business. At some point along the way you realize that you’ve come farther than you may have expected and the work is certainly worth it. Knowing when to expand as a business and when to just breathe can be part of the growing pains. A large part of our success can be attributed to our staff and therapists. The people that you surround yourself with by far can make or break a business.

Individual, Family, Couples and Group Therapy Services For Children, Adolescents & Adults:

BZA Behavioral Health is a group practice of highly specialized clinicians including psychologists, therapists, counselors, educators and support professionals. Together, we offer comprehensive emotional and behavioral wellness services for children, adolescents and adults. Services include but are not limited to counseling and therapy, psychological testing. career assessments, parent coaching and group services. With over a decade of consulting experience, we are able to share our expertise on a number of behavioral health topics ranging from co-occurring disorder to supervision techniques and much more.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There’s never a road map for starting a business. That said, our friends, family, colleagues and professional networks provided us with the skills, knowledge and quite honestly, the confidence to move forward with our dream. My business partner Jessica and I regularly recap our very start- and despite the successes, difficulties, road bumps and blocks, we wouldn’t change a thing. In the end, it’s about the journey and not the destination.
