Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Huh.
Jeff, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I attended business school at Indiana University then went on to work as a financial analyst for about 10 years. With entrepreneurial parents, I always had a drive to be my own boss. When my family and I were visiting my in-laws in Michigan, we saw a Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! and were intrigued by the concept. After trying it for lunch, we loved it so much that I inquired about franchising opportunities. At that time, they weren’t franchising but about a year later, the company reached out to me to see if I was still interested. And here I am!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There will always be challenges when opening/running your own business. One of my biggest challenges of opening a restaurant from scratch was the unforeseen, the little things that fall through the cracks, the things you can’t plan for. However, it gets better, every single day.
Another big challenge is staffing. As you work with your staff, you learn their strengths, their weaknesses and if they are a good fit.
Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sweet Lorraine’s is a quick-service restaurant serving 15 different types of Mac n’ Cheez!, grilled cheese sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups and desserts. Chef Lorraine has experimented hundreds of times with different ingredients, procedures and recipes to get just right the “gooey gooey” texture for the cheese sauce and the exact cheddar cheese flavor to go with the fine durum wheat semolina pasta that is used at Fabulous Mac n’ Cheez! Kitchens.
We are most proud of providing excellent customer service and believe this and our unique and delicious food sets us apart from others.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is being able to spend time focused on my family or on work or tasks that are fulfilling.
