Meet Jack Siperly of Black Sheep Media in Suburbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Siperly.

Jack, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was little, I always loved creating things. I had a huge imagination and was very adventurous. About freshman year of high school, I was searching through youtube, and I came across Devinsupertramp. I big YouTuber who would film his friends doing fun things like cliff jumping and doing parkour. I love his videos and how he inspired people to go outside and live life! I myself did things like this with my friends so I figured why not film my adventures! I started filming us with a little $60 camera I got for Christmas. Eventually, moved up to filming with a GoPro and started creating almost weekly adventures. People from my high school started watching them and asking to come with next time I go. I loved that people wanted to do these things too and that they watched my videos and enjoyed them. Eventually, as I began to make more and more videos I realized how awesome it was to capture all these amazing moments with my friends that one-day might’ve been forgotten. A couple years later, my mom finally let me use her Canon T3i, which was a bigtime camera for me. I filmed and filmed and got better and better, and fell in love with it. Fast forward to senior year of highschool, my adventure videos with gopros turned into directed music videos and concert recap videos. I was never really into the whole college idea. I talked to alot of videographers and actually watched a Devinsupertramp video and they all said college for film isnt really worth the money. I decided after my freshman year, I was no longer going to continue to go to college and start to take the videography seriously. I know manifested my dreams into reality as I shoot for huge artists like Marshmello, Ghastly, Krewella, NF, Dizzy Wright and many more! After understanding how powerful my brain is and how anything is truely acomplishable, I dont think I will ever turn back. My future goals are to make this my fulltime job and to have fun every day.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was definitely not a smooth road.I’ve had a lot of things that put me down along the way. I would get artists that wanted a video, shoot the whole thing, edit it and send it to them. Only to have them never reply and not send me my money. The hardest part is when you watch another videographer blow up, and you know your way better than them. That almost makes you want to say “why even try anymore”. I would often join contests and would create an amazing video thinking I’m going to win for sure. Weeks later, I get the results and some person who clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing beats me. It would blow my mind, and I still to this day dont know how they get picked over me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Black Sheep Media story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the owner of Black Sheep Media. We creative direct, film, and edit all our videos. I am most known for concert recap videos and really creating something people dont see often. We do every type of video, anything from music videos to weddings.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think in the next 5-10 years the amount of videographers will go down as people are not determined as me and will give up in a couple years of filming. Hopefully, things continue to change, because I don’t like seeing the same style video over and over. I also think we will be at the top of the industry by then and widely known.
