Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Smith.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Meg. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ten years ago, I was in the delivery room with my sister when she had my nephew Matthew. To witness the strength a woman has bringing a child into the world was life changing! My background is in social work, so the medical role didn’t intrigue me it was the supportive role that spoke to me. I looked up labor support, got my certification, and started my business!
Has it been a smooth road?
Pretty smooth! Knock on wood! As a business owner, you always need to be looking for what services you can add to meet your clients’ needs. I try be all encompassing.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Inner Strength Doula Services story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator. Since 2009 I have attended over 195 births. In that time I have gained experience and expertise as a Birth Doula. I have wonderful working relationships with nurses, Midwives and OB’s. I have gone into hospitals in my area and done presentations on the benefits of a Birth Doula. I have had the privilege to help many new Mom’s navigate their new roles. As a Postpartum Doula I nurture the new mom! I also teach private in home Childbirth classes. My clients love this as they can schedule the sessions at their convenience.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I just added the postpartum support and it has been very successful and well received. New parents can sometimes feel overwhelmed whether they are coming home with their first baby or fourth.
