Today we’d like to introduce you to Huma and Ramesh Mahtani.
Huma and Ramesh, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Sari business background has always been in our blood. My grandfather was a Sari salesman in India in the 40’s and I carried on the tradition when I came to America in the 70’s. My wife and I first started selling saris alongside my uncle, learning the trade and traveling to different show rooms across the US.
Finally in 1986 when the time came, we had the opportunity to open our own sari store and named it after our first child, Resham. As time passed, we began to switch our focus from strictly saris and now we specialize in home decor, handicrafts and meditation & spiritual related products.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This was not a smooth road. We are blessed to have such amazing customers who have supported us throughout the years.
Reshams – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in home decor, meditation and spiritual related products and handicrafts. We are most proud of the fact that we offer fair trade goods and all of our items are handpicked by us.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to us is being able to have people in your life who stand by you and appreciate what you do.
