Heather, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Love of creating stemmed from a very early age. With Education focusing on Art and Design, instructing both children and adults in the creative process, has always been in the mix. After traveling for a few years hosting events in local restaurants, pubs & home parties, I opened a brick and mortar location in downtown Crystal Lake’s old firehouse.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a gradual build. I never took out a loan, just used the revenue as it came in.
In a world of franchises and groupons, sometimes it’s hard to compete.
I’ve relied on word of mouth and social media. However, I feel strongly that when you use the talents and gifts God has given you, it’s his plan…. not yours.

Muse is my last name but it also means to inspire.
Having a fun experience while creating something beautiful is obviously key, but I am secretly hoping to spark something more that would encourage them to continue to create. For Adults, We are a BYOB studio. We have paint -a -longs, stenciled WOOD deSIGN workshops as well as our NEW OPEN STUDIO & DIY labs.
Plan on creating things suitable to give as gifts. (not your clay vase you gave Mom in high school).
Tired of the usual bouncy house mayhem? Kid’s birthday parties at MUSE ART have a beautiful setting, custom art chosen by you and a mess free home! Goody bags are taken care of because everyone leaves with a parting gift– their masterpiece!
FUNraisers are especially popular. Creating something beautiful while earning money for a cause or organization is a win-win.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our location is perfect. Downtown Crystal Lake is home to great restaurants, breweries and unique shops. We are just steps from the train station.
