Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerry Hughes.
Kerry, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
There are approximately 7,000 Rare Diseases collectively impacting 350 million people worldwide. Half of these people are children. Currently, only 200 of these diseases have FDA approved treatments.
Through the power of music, we fuel external scientific discoveries in Rare Disease, educate medical students and uplift children with our annual playlists and gifts of music.
We are a recognized leader and contributor in funding scientific discoveries in Rare Disease through the power of music.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is about the journey, not the destination. Advocating for children with life limiting and life threatening diseases that have no treatments or cures is worth every bump, twist and turn in the road.
Through music our mission is to fuel scientific discoveries in Rare Disease, educate and inspire future physicians and uplift children and families through The H4H Annual Playlist. Two of our biggest struggles have been navigating the music industry and creating a strong, consistent and influential social media presence.
Please tell us about Harmony 4 Hope.
H4H is a non-profit 501c3 charitable organization. As the Founder and President, I am primarily focused on creating innovative and unique ways to engage community with our noteworthy outreach programs. I enjoy focusing on the long-term vision of the organization and building the relationships with industry sponsors and families facing the challenges of Rare Disease. H4H is truly a passion project for me!
We are a recognized leader and contributor in funding scientific discoveries in Rare Disease through the power of music. Music is what sets apart from others in the Rare Disease advocacy arena.
We are most proud of the THREE programs we have designed to keep us laser focused on delivering our very FINE TUNED mission to researchers, medical students and most importantly kids and families.
Rock the Research: Live music events FUELING scientific discoveries at Chicago’s Rush University Medical
Rare Storytellers: EDUCATING physicians in training at Feinberg School of Medicine & Rush
Play This Forward: UPLIFTING kids and families with our gifts of music.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I love the journey I am on! There are such valuable lessons learned every day that humble and shape me as a leader and give great character and sense of adventure to our organization.
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to surround myself and our organization with people who have expertise in areas which I do not. This brings immeasurable value to the table and creates a lot of camaraderie among our team. Learning to delegate has been a challenge for me, but a MUST in order to grow this important mission. I believe too much in the mission to keep it all to myself.
