Today we’d like to introduce you to Grand Master Han Lee.
Grand Master Lee started training in martial arts at the age of six, obtaining his black belt when he was eight, making him the youngest student to ever receive a black belt in South Korea. He traveled to Illinois in 1969 and opened his first taekwondo school in 1970. Since then, he has been teaching martial arts to the community. He focuses on Olympic style taekwondo, self-defense, hapkido, kickboxing, and fitness.
Has it been a smooth road?
When Grand Master Lee opened his school for the first two years he only had eight students. He had to work two jobs in order to make ends meet during this time.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the U.S. Martial Arts story. Tell us more about the business.
Martial arts training consists of cardiovascular, flexibility, strength, agility, and power exercises. Martial arts also teach discipline, respect, integrity, and perseverance. Our certified instructors incorporate all of these positive characteristics in each class. All of our students who sign up usually stay with us for a long time because they enjoy our methods of teaching. Learning from a Grand Master like ours sets the bar high, that other schools cannot compete with.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Hopefully the industry expands and we open more locations citywide. Only time will tell.
