Meet Gideon Lipnickas of New Concept 180 in North Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gideon Lipnickas.

Gideon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
From the very beginning, I was interested in learning about construction simply thinking that later on it will help me decorate my own home. Soon enough, I was so into construction management, residential construction and remodeling that I spent most of my free time reading about them. I started working in a painting company and have to say that being good at construction definitely helped me to like the subject even more.

In 1997, New Concept 180 company was established. We quickly gained our clients’ trust by providing top quality services. Clients are always number one both for me and my colleagues. All of our staff members are experts in construction and we always share knowledge with each other.

I was certified in Remodeler degree from NARI. My training and hands-on experience on projects has taught me many valuable lessons. That being said, I didn’t stop there, I continue learning every day to reach even better results.

At the moment, I have more than 15 years of valuable experience in renovation and remodeling business closely working with interior designers and architects.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would be lying, if I said that everything was perfect from the start. Of course, in the beginning, I lacked knowledge and needed to learn a lot of new things fast. Nonetheless, I am grateful for all the struggles on the way because they helped me to develop useful skills and made me do my best. I was working really hard to show my abilities and gain the client’s’ trust.

When we started as a company, we hung anything and everything there is… from grasscloth, textiles, shells to glass beads… and, of course, just a wallpaper. Soon enough, New Concept 180 got great feedback and more carpentry type of work. Back in 2009 we were the first ones in Chicago metro area to install natural Biscayne Peacock & Pheasant feather wallpaper. I liked construction, continued improving my knowledge, and on top of that, the company was growing.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about New Concept 180 – what should we know?
New Concept 180 provides design-build process of construction, whole house remodeling, home additions, and maintenance projects. I am most proud of my staff members, who are complete experts at construction. We continuously learn from each other and find new ways to improve the company’s business.

I can also gladly say that most of our business (99%) are referrals. Our clients know who we are and how we work. They know what to expect. They trust us and they know that we will deliver high quality product. We always try to provide a realistic budget, even (and sometimes we do) we are risking on not getting the job. Taking care of the clients’ comfort during the construction process and keeping them up to date are our main priorities. All of our work is done fairly and honestly, you will not find any “cut corners”. I am proud of the work that we do because at the end of the day is the result that matters. It’s always nice to see the “Before” transition to the “After”. In most cases, the client has little knowledge of all the factors that make a project run smoothly (delivery of materials, scheduling in specialty contractors, and in general just the order in which things can expected to be completed). We make a commitment to discuss in detail at every opportunity with our clients. To help on this, we use BuilderTrend cloud based construction management software. Expertise in construction, excellent client service, and great results set us apart from other companies.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Many people involved deserve credit for the business success. I am grateful for my first jobs that created opportunities to learn and actually find a subject that I like. Architects, designers, and other professionals always shared their experience to create best results. We learned a lot from each other. Most of all, I would like to thank my clients, who trusted me and our company. They are the ones that drive our company to success. I am even thankful to our competitors because they make us continuously improve and search for new ways on how to improve our construction project.
