Today we’d like to introduce you to Gene Charness.
Gene, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We’ve been in business for almost 35 years. This is a shop of fine, curated products. We have over 900 Single Malt Scotches, close to 400 American Whiskies including a broad range of our own single barrels. Broad range of Japanese and Irish whisk(e)y too. Large Mezcal and Tequila section. 1000 wines and one of the best local beer selections in the city. Building is from 1892 with a 15 foot tin ceiling, maple floor, and Redwood fixtures.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This is a process. To stay current, it is necessary to reinvent yourself periodically. As the neighborhoods evolved, so has the store.
Please tell us about Warehouse Liquors.
We have one of the largest, finest groupings of product around. Knowledgeable, attentive staff, distinguishes us from large, poorly informed big box stores.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’m grateful for this evolution of experience. It is said, it’s not a mistake if you learn from it.
