Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Burack.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In college, I went to work at a skilled nursing facility in the activity department and loved working with seniors and helping them. I went on to get a degree as an occupational therapist and later formed a large Rehabilitation company. I helped place OT, ST, PT in health care settings. My brother and I decided we wanted to develop skilled facilities and built, owned and operated The Claremont in Buffalo Grove. As time went on, I began noticing how important it was to have a safe transition from home for my patients and started a caregiving company Freedom Home Care. I eventually sold the rehab company and The Claremont and began to focus on Freedom Home Care. FHC is now celebrating its 20th year in business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The obstacle is to always have the right people working for you. I believe in quality of care so finding quality employees to provide this service has been a goal of mine from the beginning and is truly appreciated by our clients.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I love what I do but if I could go back and start over I would have become a Naturopathic doctor.

Timing is important. Having intentions and staying focused on specific goals has enabled me to act on opportunities as they arise.
