Meet Frank Cacciato of Katherine Frank Creative in Downers Grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Cacciato.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
What began in the spare bedroom of our first home in the western suburbs, is now 20+ years in the making as a successful family-owned business. We quickly grew from basic graphic design roots to a full-service exhibit design company. The need for more space led us to Lombard, and eventually to our current office in Downers Grove where we maintain 30,000 square feet of temperature-controlled warehouse space as well as an additional 10,000 feet of office room.

After staying home to raise our children, my wife Kathy stepped in full-time more than 10 years ago as our President. She really is the brains behind our whole operation – At one point, we tried bringing in a general manager but we both agreed, that didn’t fit our company’s culture and personality. We figure, this is our life, so in addition to working hard, we wanted it to be fun which is why humor fosters much of the creative atmosphere in our office.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Has “bad stuff” happened to us along the way? Absolutely, but never enough to keep my wife or I down long enough to stop believing in our business. We are blessed with 25 years of providing honest and quality products as well as feeding and supporting not only our Family, but our many loyal employees as well. Great love, happiness and smiles are shared daily in and out of our office. Over the years, we have learned to take every day as it comes and make the best decisions possible for not only our clients but for ourselves. I am grateful to God for my wife and business partner, our families (both at home and at work) and the business we have been blessed with. With both of our names on the business letterhead, that’s a whole lot to live up to and feel proud of!

As a boutique design agency, we specialize in exhibit & retail displays, signage, graphics and show management services. Our 23 years of experience is rooted in designing, building and installing all types of creative projects to bring client’s visions to life. Whether they are looking for a large, custom build or a smaller, modular display, we have options that accommodate every budget with endless possibilities for customization. Much a like boutique hotel, each one of our jobs is unique, making no experience with us the same.

Our close knit, Family-owned and operated culture offers that same feeling and personal level of attention. Doing business with us means that you are an extension of our Family…a brand we support from the beginning design phases to the last crate packed up at the show. Along with our success designing and fabricating trade show displays and corporate signage, we are also skilled in conceptualizing interior spaces and installing permanent displays, store fronts, point of purchase units, and more.

We have earned the respect of an array of clients including: Revlon Professional, Procter & Gamble, Essie, Danone, Thousand Trails, Sexy Hair, Royal Cup Coffee, Mizani and Modern Salon; just to name a few. In addition, we have the capabilities to service clients internationally thanks to our relationships with builders and show management teams in various countries throughout Europe, as well as our relationship with Cosmoprof Bologna and Las Vegas groups. As an award-winning group, our team is proud of the strong presence we have established in the trade show industry.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As a company, we are rebuilding our show service department and warehouse capabilities. We are focusing and fine-tuning our floor services menu including the ability to offer general contracting for small to midsize events. By joining forces with an event services crew, we have a presence in virtually every state across the U.S. and can now provide professional and consistent labor crews who remain familiar with all our clients’ properties. We also have additional off-site warehouse locations which means we can store booths all over the country, minimizing shipping & transportation costs.

For us, our clients always come first, from the design phase to final shipments at the end of a show. We strive to provide superior support and communication, not only among ourselves as an organization, but for our clients now more than ever. We are continuously evolving to differentiate ourselves from every other service company in our category. Our superior, quality staff strives to always stay one step above our competition, raising the bar as a superior service provider for years to come.
