Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Walton.
Erica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2015, during my foundation’s first annual girl’s empowerment camp, I taught an affirmation during our self-esteem day. The affirmation was “I’m a Princess Growing Into a Queen”. Shortly after camp I chose to turn the affirmation to a children’s book and T-shirt. Over the last three years the one tee for girls has turned into a full collection for the entire family. I carry apparel for women, men, and children. My RoyalTee Collection features Royal affirmations and black characters. I have tees, hoodies, sneakers, umbrellas, backpacks, totes, and more. Along with the apparel line I’m also an event planner and mother of eleven. I want my children especially my eight daughters to know that anything is possible if you work for it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Actually I’ve had many bumps in the road and broke days. Many disappointments and doors closed on me. I believe my greatest struggle was finding out that people aren’t eager to support you.
Please tell us about Evolving Diva Inc.
Well my company is the Evolving Diva Inc. Under the evolving Diva umbrella I have an event planning and wardrobe styling business, an apparel line, a nonprofit organization, and I’m an author of four books. My company specializes in planning events as well as styling the client. It’s a one stop shop. The apparel was birthed unexpectedly. I am most proud of the impact I have on young women. In 2018, I created an event called Support A Sista Saturday. It’s free promotion and events to drive sales and support of women owned small businesses.
