Meet Erica Nsoedo of Fitness In Tune in Rogers Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Nsoedo.

Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been athletic growing up. In high school and college, I ran all sprints and the long jump and I developed a hunger for fitness. After college, I became a certified personal trainer, where I was able to utilize my experience as an athlete to help motivate people to get in shape. I worked as a trainer at Bally Total Fitness in Rogers Park for 3 years before I decided to work independently. In 2013, I found a studio in Rogers Park and began my journey as the owner of Fitness In Tune. Fitness In Tune is a cozy boutique style studio that is neighborhood friendly. Here I provided private personal training for the client that may be a beginner or have weight to lose, and needs to feel comfortable knowing that it is just me and them.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is challenging working as a trainer while having to also wear the hat of a small business owner. At the same time, it has been such a rewarding learning experience. I can feel the changes in myself, which makes me more confident, because I know more and more that I am doing the right thing for myself as well as the clients that I serve.

Please tell us about Fitness In Tune.
Fitness In Tune is a private personal training studio. I provided personal training services as well as corrective exercise programs, meal plan suggestions, semi-private personal training, and small group fitness classes. I specialize in weight loss and I provide clients with a maintenance program once they have achieved their goal to help maintain it or even improve it!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing. I used to play day in and day out, jumping double dutch, skip it, playing basketball using milk crates and camping!

What can I say about this amazing women…. Just My Erica (inside joke) she is more than amazing she gave me that push that I needed because my life was so busy and I started to realized that I was putting other people and things first and not my health. I would always tell her that when I trained with you it’s like my mommy get away because I got that great workout and also my venting session as well. Thank you Erica for all that you have done for me and my health and was so blessed to have you as my trainer.
