Today we’d like to introduce you to Elsie Stoller.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I picked up my first point and shoot camera in Junior High and I was hooked. During my senior year of high school, I interned at a photography studio in a neighboring town. I absolutely fell in love with photography and being an entrepreneur. There is so much joy for me in capturing milestones for clients. Whether that is senior photos, engagements or a wedding day. Being able to preserve those memories for generations to come is an honor.
Six years ago, I opened a small photography studio in my hometown. Since then, my business has grown and changed a lot but the passion for my work stays the same. I am so blessed by the amazing clients that have trusted me to photograph their their special moments over these last 6 years of business and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think every adventure in life is met with its share of struggles. The struggle to compete, the questions of self-doubt. Am I good enough? The temptation for comparison is sometimes overwhelming in this creative industry.
It is the relationships that make those struggles worth it. Relationships with clients that turn from professional to close friends. When a wedding day ends with a big hug and a huge “thank you” or when you get that excited text, filled with emojis, after delivering a gallery those are the moments that make doing this job so great!
Elsie Jo Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a natural light wedding and portrait photographer. I specialize in weddings, engagements, and senior photos. I am proud to be serving clients all over central Illinois and beyond. I absolutely adore being able to meet and serve new clients.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
It easy to get caught up in the idea that success is defined in dollar signs or Instagram followers. But for me, success is defined by my ability to serve clients well. Whether that is 10 couples or 100. I want every client that I work with to feel appreciated and treasure the images that we create together.

Elsie did a wonderful job of capturing Grace’s (our daughter) personality and love for life in her senior photos. She has such an “eye” for the perfect photo. These are precious memories for us because Grace is now living in her Heavenly Home.
