A jeweler friend of the family, mentioned to me that there was a real need for hand engravers in the city of Chicago.
I found a school in Quincy, Illinois to learn the ancient art. I also earned my degree in horology (watchmaking) and studied jewelry design. I met my husband, a jeweler, while at school.
I apprenticed downtown Chicago, but my dream was to be self-employed and start a business from home, while raising a family.
Our sons are grown now, but my studio is still located in our home.
Has it been a smooth road?
Technology and communication have changed and that has been the real challenge.
Selling on the internet has been a new adventure and a very time-consuming affair.

Hand engraving is a very rare art form. I specialize in engraving fine metal, karat gold and sterling silver. Creating heirloom pieces.
Keeping up with the times, I also offer machine and computerized engraving for flat work.
