Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Dean Francis.
Dr. Francis, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a general dentist for 35 years and I have found it to be a very exciting profession as it is constantly changing and improving. In fact, in just the past 5-10 years there has been so much improvement in how and what we can provide our patients, that it is nothing short of a miracle. With our single visit, no impression, computer-generated crowns, we can now replace lost tooth material with something that is the closest thing to your natural tooth than ever before. That, along with digital x-rays, improved materials and anaesthetics are what makes today’s dentistry truly amazing and better than ever before.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our biggest struggle in dentistry today is in educating people in the strong link between their oral health and overall wellness. There are now countless studies showing how an unhealthy mouth can lead to many other health issues.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are very well known for our Cerec crowns which are computer and dentist designed and manufactured in one visit. While the technology is available to all dentists, only a small percentage has incorporated it into their practices. Therefore, we provide our patients with the best looking, most natural crowns possible. These crowns have no metal and are bonded to the tooth instead of cemented. This makes them much stronger and allows patients to eat sticky foods with no fear of loosening them.
And since they are made at one visit, there is no need to return for a follow-up visit, or for temporary crowns, and there are no gagging impressions. We can use the camera attached to our computer to get all of the information that we need to make a gorgeous crown.
What were you like growing up?
I had many interests growing up and I still do. I enjoy photography, gardening, fix up projects, tennis, golf, hiking and traveling. Dentistry allows me to use my hands and my brain which makes it so fascinating.
