Thanks for sharing your story with us Danielle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I come from a long line of Jamaican cake ladies so it’s safe to say that baking is in my blood! I spent years baking for friends, colleagues, and family members. Then, after a vegan friend challenged me to create something she could enjoy, Tubby’s Taste Vegan Desserts for Everyone was born.
To my surprise, I loved creating delicious desserts for non-vegans and vegans alike! I enjoy making treats that bring people together, are a nod to my Jamaican heritage, while using quality, thoughtful ingredients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been many sacrifices that I’ve had to make in order to make my dreams of founding a successful vegan dessert company a reality. I’ve had to navigate the different stages of bootstrapping, the situation in which an entrepreneur starts a company with little capital, as well as learning how to balance a successful and highly physical business with a full-time day job.
In one year, I had to learn how to apply for a trademark, establish a wholesale sheet, launch a website, create a pitch deck, recruit friends to help, navigate business taxes, and the list goes on and on. All while spending my weekends selling at farmers markets and pop-up shops.
I’m confident in my products and now I’ve realized that to really be successful, more time is what I need. Recently, I quit my full-time job in order to focus on growing Tubby’s Taste. I’m making money through my business through online sales of my vegan cookie subscription boxes and farmers market. I was so delighted when I sold out at my first farmers market. But this is only the beginning for me.

Tubby’s Taste Vegan Dessert for Everyone™ is a vegan dessert company specializing in delicious vegan cookies. We currently have three flavors inspired by our founder’s Jamaican heritage. We currently sell cookie boxes and cookie subscription boxes online via our website, tubbystaste.com, cratejoy.com, and at local farmers markets!
As a company, we’re most proud of our values: empowering women and children, bringing people together, and sharing the love!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We’re looking forward to catering events that bring people together and also moving into the consumer packaged goods space (to be in a local grocery store and/or coffee shop near you!)
