With a clear understanding of style and menswear, he was recognized and recruited by Alfred Dunhill, London, where he worked as the lead designer and custom-clothing specialist for three years. His knowledge of menswear and enthusiasm for clients led him to begin his own clothing company.
The venture quickly became a success, designing for high-profile Californians and celebrities including Oracle CEO Larry Ellison and California Governor Jerry Brown to name a couple. His work was featured in books and publications such as San Francisco’s 7 X 7, Best-Dressed edition. Daniel sold the company in 2007. Two years later he moved to Chicago to pursue his next clothing adventure, the eponymous Daniel George Custom Suits.
He is now the fastest-growing custom clothier in Chicago with a beautiful showroom on Michigan Avenue. Overall, it has been a smooth road thus far. We are ever-changing in terms of finding the best manufacturers, finest mills, and top-tier personnel. The biggest challenge to the growth of our business is that we continue to outgrow our showroom space. Also, there are only so many hours in the day, only allowing us to see about 12 clients per day. With appointments ranging from 15 minutes to an hour and a half, scheduling can be challenging.
