Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Bocik.
Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Upon graduating from the California Academy in San Francisco, I started working in a wide variety of restaurants throughout the United States, Paris, and Milan. I opened a tavola restaurant in 1995 on a shoestring budget of small savings combined with a loan from a close friend.
Everything came together cohesively, and a tavola has been thriving now been thriving for over 22 years. My current initiative is to put together the a tavola group; a larger organization with the goal of making it easier for restaurants to be profitable in the current market. I have gone from restaurant owner to app developer and recruiter and I’m excited to see what the future will bring for the company.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With the shift to the new business model, things have not been profitable off the bat. When entering a new market, you need to be aware that some of your assumptions are going to be incorrect and that without counsel you can feel lost. I’ve been open and flexible to latitude in the outcome, and I’ve been taking advice and direction from those who have been here before.

I would say I’m most proud of roughly defining the needs in the market. Setting those boundaries and finding the people who share my vision.
