Meet Dan Dunn of Aqueity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Dunn.

Dan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got the technology bug at the early age of thirteen when I took apart our home computer to make it faster. While I worried my ambition might leave our family with a broken computer, my parents embraced my curiosity and encouraged me to follow my passion. While in college, I applied everything I learned about business with my passion for technology and extraordinary service delivery. This led to the formation of Aqueity.

Today Aqueity is one of Chicago’s leading Technology Services firms, providing a full spectrum of IT solutions designed to help small and medium-sized Chicago-based businesses utilize technology to drive revenue.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have never met a business leader who had a smooth road, and I am no exception. One particularly challenging period was the rapid growth of Aqueity and the effect that it had on our clients and team. We hired quickly and fast-tracked our standard employee onboarding process, a key component that positions our team to deliver extraordinary service.

The effect of taking these shortcuts led to a negative team culture and a decrease in client satisfaction. When I look back, my failure to step in early enough amplified the situation. Making things worse, I allowed myself to be heavily influenced by team members whose agenda wasn’t in line with our company core values. I refer to this period as my million-dollar education and something I don’t expect to repeat.

Another important lesson I learned is the importance of identifying team members who have the right skills and experience for each phase of growth within Aqueity. Retaining team members who struggle with the pace, culture and/or changes within the organization limits everyone involved from reaching their full potential all while causing unnecessary angst along the way.

While I have experienced my share of bumps along the way, I am most thankful for the unwavering support from my family, friends, co-workers and clients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Aqueity, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Leading with our security first strategy, Aqueity is a Technology services firm that implements technologies designed to boost efficiency, encourage productivity, and increase client’s revenue. A key differentiator and our “secret sauce” is our proprietary approach to delivering thousands of projects and services within budget and ahead of schedule. Typical client engagements include; IT Strategy (roadmaps, etc.), Security Services, Cloud Implementations and IT support.

Aqueity is known for aligning with clients to develop a shared vision. Our commitment to service, combined with our collaborative methodology, leads to satisfied customers.

As for what I am most proud of, this is an easy one. Our do whatever it takes to meet our client’s needs and never leave a teammate behind culture. Our culture fuels our delivery of Extraordinary service.

While we have a lot of great initiatives in the works, one that I am most looking forward to is the launch of our managed security solutions scheduled for release at the end of Q2. This service will enable any size company to improve their security posture via an easy to understand and quick to implement the solution.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Since I was raised in the City of Chicago I am a bit bias, Chicago rocks!
