Courtland, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Chicago Costume was founded in 1976 By Mary Hickey as a small rental and custom costume shop, today it has grown into Chicago’s largest and most complete full-service costumes store offering the very best costumes masks, makeup and accessories to purchase and a full line of theatrical quality costumes to rent. We also have custom design services and offer all manner of event services and products. The family business is now in its 2nd generation with Courtland Hickey at the helm.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is easy, right now business is tougher than ever in fact. the key to keeping things going is to try new things and not to forget old things that work!

We are Chicago’s only full-service costume store meaning we have the products but can offer professional advice as well as application services on many specialty things. These services include wig styling, makeup consultation, and application as well as event services such as a costume closet
