Meet Jamie Howard of COR Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Howard.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
COR is the result of a three-year pilot with a nutritional supplement parent company. After three years of development and successful growth, COR broke away under a new name with the same leadership team and support staff. Leveraging significant experience and knowledge gained through the pilot, COR is the improvement and re-launch of its prior model. With more than 60 years of cumulative executive experience helping employees perform better, our team has a breadth of clinical and business experience with some of the most recognized company names in healthcare and commerce.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No startup is easy. However, as COR launched under new leadership, our clients stayed with us and supported our new venture. As we focused on building new client relationships and partnerships, we have continued to develop and create the infrastructure needed to expand and grow. We have faced many challenges. Keeping our team intact, expanding our markets, and utilizing our proven approach to serve more people makes it all worth it.

COR Wellness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
COR develops a tailored strategy, using our professionals to deliver convenient, custom programs, focused on measuring results for each participant. We link a person performance to their health which impacts their employer, family, and community. Our system targets three health elements that impact how someone performs; Structural, Metabolic and Cognitive. As people start to move, eat and think better their performance improves. Our methodology, our approach, and our experience opens an opportunity to drive behavioral change and commitment to new levels. Improving health is improving the quality of life.

Our services are either offered onsite at corporations, within private organizations or in a virtual setting. The entire COR suite of services is delivered by two people: a chiropractor and wellness coach. Unlike standard wellness programs, this cost-effective, onsite-team builds momentum every week, connecting deeper with the organization and its people. COR experts continually analyze data and client trends to ensure ongoing improvement and savings. We reinforce with our clients that every employee matters. We provide the partnership and programs that execute on that promise and deliver bottom-line results. As organizational participation grows, so does the model with more hours and additional program services. We take a similar approach in the virtual world by creating a model that engages a person and gives them the tools and accountability to improve their health.

Our approach is unique because we reach the people that need the most help. Most wellness initiatives engage people that are already healthy and utilize the services that are made available to them. Who has the biggest impact on the performance of a business or organization? Everyone else that wants help but doesn’t know where to start. We measure everything we do to show how an individual is improving in their Structural, Metabolic and Cognitive Health. Outcomes impact sustainability and that is what most wellness programs lack.

While we are always excited about the ROI we provide an improved performance at the aggregate level the individual stories are what are the most satisfying. Just recently we helped a 58-year-old with diabetes drop his blood sugar levels far enough to eliminate the need for insulin shots. He is also walking more and sleeping better because he doesn’t have pain in his feet at night. Overall he is performing better at work and at home and is happy. We see stories like this every day. Not only did we impact that individual we impacted the bottom line of that company.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I have spent 20 years of my career in both the Health and Safety and Employee Engagement industries.

COR has allowed me to take my experience and mold it together to help people perform in their daily lives at a much higher level. More specifically, I have the privilege to work with talented healthcare professionals providing a holistic approach vs. a traditional sick care model to people that are looking for something to improve their lives.

What I am most proud of is when we hear the stories of how our teams changed someone’s life which impact his or her family also. Whether it is someone changing their lifestyle and losing weight, allowing a golfer to get back on the course from a back injury, preventing a workman’s comp claim by changing a job function or relieving pain so someone can sleep at night.

We all take for granted our health so it is very important to take control of what you can and we give people that opportunity. So when I look back at the last several years and realize how many people we have touched and helped it makes me very proud of what we do. That is the drive that keeps me moving forward every day.
