Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Bryant.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve always had an unexplainable connection with music. Growing up, I was exposed to music in so many different fashions. My parents were both sports stars, yet driven by the sounds of their generation, destined to create an artist. My first ever kindergarten voice teacher initially noticed the uniqueness of my vocal abilities. Her passionate interest and delicate devotion to my voice’s potential inspired me to become the best singer I could be. Singing became my specialty as well as my ultimate means of emotional expression. I found not only singing but also songwriting to be the best release of personal reflections. I was the first songwriter to ever perform in my high school’s Writer’s Week festivities. At the time, I was simply looking to showcase my uncommon songwriting skills while subtly embarrassing the boy who broke my heart in front of the entire student body. Although, the incredible reactions I received from fellow students and faculty were greater than I could have ever envisioned. Just hearing how people were not only able to connect with my experiences but also find solace and support through my melodic story was the most rewarding aftermath imaginable (not to mention that man never messed with me again)! I knew then that my music was more than a means of self-expression; music was a method of giving back to my community. After honing my craft at one of the best music schools in the world, Berklee College of Music, I decided to move back home and start my journey in the Chicago area, so I could share my talents with a community I love so deeply.
Please tell us about your music.
I create music as a means of emotional expression. My music is unapologetically human, embodying emotions of rage, sadness, pleasure, passion, and love. I want people to listen to my art and know they are never alone in their feelings. I strive to stress the importance of self-love.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
It is too easy in today’s society to get caught up in competition and comparisons, when, in reality, most artists carry the same insecurities. My advice to other artists is to remember you are absolutely unique. There never was, nor will ever be someone exactly like you, who experiences life the way you do, and that is your greatest strength. Remain confident in who you are because each and every one of us has something special to offer this world. That self-assurance alone will attract other artists to want to be a part of your achievements.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My music is available on all digital distribution platforms. People can support me as well as other independent artists by streaming our music, buying our merchandise, attending our shows, and sharing their appreciation. Independent artists, such as myself, rely on the community’s love. All of my performance dates, locations, videos, and social media can be found on my website, clairebryantmusic.com.
