Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Scott.
Christopher, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started with my mom telling me that she’s not going to pay for my college tuition when it was time for me to enroll in my final year at Columbia College. So, I never went back because I had a balance of over $10k. From there, I opened up a beauty salon and day spa. Come to find out, I ran out of money while trying to open up the shop. When I went to go to the bank to get a small loan, I was told my credit was shot. So, I cried and prayed and I said let me get this thing under control. I went and pulled my credit report a few days later and went over all 3 credit bureaus and started writing letters to the various companies. Once I started getting negative items removed, I kept at it. This, I started just doing friends and family members credit and went from there. I closed the beauty salon and started doing credit restoration full time. I hooked up with loan officers and other bankers and started hitting the pavement passing out business cards and went from there.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Success is not a straight path. I’ve had clients get over on me by not paying me. I’ve had realtors have me do work and not get paid.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Opulent Credit Builders story. Tell us more about the business.
Opulent Credit is the only MBE Certified credit repair company here is the state of Illinois. We’ve been vetted by the Who’s Who of Chicago business and government. We remove all the negative items or blemished from consumer and business credit profile dealing with Dunn & Bradstreet. I’m known for being the Credit Doctor because I make house calls. I’m proud of our accomplishments because we say what we’re going to do and it gets done. Also, we finance for our clients if they don’t have the money. Were the only company that’s doing that. When we finance our clients, we report to all 3 credit bureaus as well as that the client is paying on time. You speak to a live person on every call. What sets us apart is were teaching our client on how not to get back in trouble with there credit and they receive a book after each visit.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Our success has nothing to do with luck. It has everything to do with God. I pay my tithes and offering, making sure that I give God his 10% back if not more.
