Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Plummer.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I took apart watches as a kid and really enjoyed fixing things. I was interested in how things worked mechanically. I later became interested in bicycles, go karts, and cars. I worked at a service station near my home in Palatine, Illinois pumping gas, then began to service cars. I started out doing oil changes and tire repair, and soon after I learned to do general car repair. After high school, I attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyoming. After that I returned to Palatine and got hired at Motor Werks of Barrington in 1986. I became a master Porsche technician at Motor Werks, and I remained there for 14 years. In June of 2000, I opened Arlington Performance Center in Arlington Heights to specialize in German car repair. I sought out to expand the customer base of the former car repair shop that used to be where Arlington Performance Center stands today.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had a 2-year-old child at the time of opening Arlington Performance Center with one on the way soon after. I had to learn, and am still learning how to balance my personal and professional life.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Arlington Performance Center – what should we know?
We service most car brands, but our technicians are specially trained for German car repair. My hope is that we are known for our ethical and reliable service. I am proud of building a place where I have seen many of my customers return to get their cars serviced over the years. I feel it is a place that my customers can call home for their cars.
