Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Zeifert.
Christine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2010 and knew I always wanted to have my own practice. I worked with an ophthalmologist for 6 years before I was able open my open office. In September 2016 all of the hard work finally paid off. I had the office completely built out to match my style and mode of practice. I strive to provide an outstanding patient experience by integrating the latest evidence based technology into my exams, and taking the time to answer our patients’ questions. Our optical concentration is on quality frames and lenses that provide maximum protection and the best possible vision for our patients. I like to support companies that give back to the community.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest obstacle is balancing family life with the office. My husband and I have 2 young children, and a third due in June 2017. Trying to do both is a constant balancing act, and has taught me to be more flexible and present.
Please tell us about Zeifert Eye Care.
Zeifert Eye Care provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family. We offer annual exams, urgent care (eye infections, foreign body, and eye pain), pediatric/school exam, as well as specialty contacts and glasses. We also offer vision therapy and binocular vision evaluations. A binocular vision evaluation can be done for someone who is having trouble focusing due to eye strain, double vision, reduced visual acuity in one eye. It is commonly done to rule out eye issues for children who are having trouble reading and writing, or falling behind in school. If deficiencies are noted, a vision therapy schedule can be implemented to help reduce or resolve these visual issues. We also provide quality eye wear and contact lenses.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be of my traveling basketball team. We would travel to different tournaments over the summer. It gave me the chance to meet many different people, learn from coaches with various coaching styles, and travel with my family and friends. These tournaments taught me about endurance, fortitude and team work; I couldn’t play 3 games in one day without the help of my teammates. We played against some tough competition; which helped to teach me to always get back up and adapt. These tournaments were weekends spent with some of my best friends.
