Meet Christine Nendick of Rescue in Style

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Nendick.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a passion to help animals. Unfortunately, my veterinary career ended quickly when I fainted during surgeries while working at my local vet. I continued to volunteer at shelters and wanted to get more involved helping animals find their forever homes. While scrolling through Instagram late one night, I came across a fashion blogger who shared a photograph of her dog.

Seeing a wonderful platform for rescue animals, I created a website combining fashion and adoptable pets. It’s been a little over a year since I started this project and I’ve had the most wonderful time working with shelters and rescues in Chicago and across the US.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say it’s been smooth but it’s certainly been fun. It’s quite the roller coaster ride to create your own business. The hardest part for me has been separating my self-worth from my work and not taking everything so personally. Because my brand is such a reflection of myself, it’s been a tough lesson to learn but has greatly improved my overall approach.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Rescue in Style – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
While most people would refer to me as a fashion blogger, I actually consider myself a pet blogger with a fashion twist. The style portion helps to reach a new audience that may not be aware of all the different kinds of pets needing homes.

I’m definitely in a niche market that speaks to the animal lover and people who enjoy everyday fashions. There are quite a few things I’m proud of, but perhaps most recently, it was helping a friend adopt her dog from our local shelter. It was wonderful to experience the joy of seeing someone find their furry soulmate.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Oh man, there are so many plans! Ideally, I’d love to travel and highlight rescue organizations across the US and eventually the world. Each geographical area has its own struggles with animal rescue efforts and I’d love to be to spotlight those. There are so many wonderful organizations doing amazing work and I can only hope to learn from them and help educate others.
