Meet Chris Schuler of Bass/Schuler Entertainment in Edgebrook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Schuler.

Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved to Chicago in 1994 and had played in bands while attending Purdue University and wanted to get into the Chicago music scene. I ended up playing bass for a band called Brando’s Charm and while researching agencies to help with college touring, I connected with Ario Professional Artists and instead of getting my band signed to the roster, I ended up getting a job as an agent for the company. A few years after working there and learning about the college entertainment market, I departed along with another agent, Scott Bass to start Bass/Schuler Entertainment in 1999. We’ve been touring bands, comics, speakers and variety performers to colleges all across the U.S. since then.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every company has its share of struggles for sure but we’ve always stayed focused on the company’s mission to provide the best entertainers for the college and summer festival market and strive to make sure the experience for performers and clients is a great one.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Bass/Schuler Entertainment – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Bass/Schuler Entertainment has a primary focus on providing entertainment and speakers for colleges and universities. We also work with Chicago area park districts and festivals to help provide family friendly bands and performers for their community events they supply all year. We work with over one hundred bands and family friendly performers locally. We’ve amassed a strong roster of performers so local clients and colleges can feel comfortable that whomever they hire will do an exceptional job. We are proud to say that our agency has been voted “Agency of the Year” in the Campus Activities Magazine Readers Choice Poll 8 times in 16 years and you’re only eligible for the award every other year if you’ve won. Only college clients are able to vote so that makes us feel great that we are making a positive impact with the schools we book with.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago is an amazing city with diverse communities that have so much to offer. I’ve been in the city for 23 years and still haven’t finished exploring and don’t think I ever will since its constantly evolving. For a person that loves going to see bands and festivals, you have your work cut out for you to see all Chicago has to offer during the summer. Plus, the lake is a huge part of what makes this city great and I enjoy getting on the water whenever possible (in the summer of course). The winters are rough but let’s face it, without a harsh winter, we wouldn’t appreciate the summer as much as we do.
