Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Manski.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After working for other people when I was in my teens, I knew I wanted to be self-employed and would not mind working long hard hours to fill the needs of my customers. My journey began when I bought into a direct mail advertising territory selling direct mail ads for business that were mailed out each quarter to nearby residences. Gradually I expanded into printing and from there into outdoor advertising.

I began renting cold air advertising balloons, renting portable signs, installing and repairing neon signs, installing vinyl lettering, renting searchlights then finally began a sister company Awesome Amusements and ventured into the Party & Event rental business.

Awesome Amusements Party Rentals has evolved from the early days of 3 moon jumps and some concession equipment to where we are today occupying 3 warehouses in Addison, a barn in Virgil and offices in Addison and St. Charles.

We have become a full service company, offering carnival rides, a large variety of inflatable interactive rides and games, large variety of tents, tables, chairs, catering, concession foods, carnival games and prizes, photo/video booths entertainers such as face painters, balloon twisters, magicians, stilt walkers, caricature artists, pony rides, petting zoos and so much more.

Our team consists of hard working dedicated party professionals whose goal is our customers 100% complete satisfaction. We strive to exceed our customers’ expectations.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part business has been good all along, when the economy hit a bump a few years back we fared much better than the very large rental companies who saw revenue drop by up to 50%, our loyal customers and our willingness to work within clients budgets really gave us an edge up on our competition.

The biggest challenge we run into is low priced competition who comes into the market, without insurance, do not get their rides inspected and licensed and do not fully understand the safety aspects of this business. They drop off equipment and don’t supervise the rides that require trained staffing. This is when you see the accidents happen, moon jumps blowing away in the wind, tents collapsing and kids getting hurt.

We have a great track record with safety and all of our equipment is inspected and licensed by the State of Illinois. Our clients and their guests safety is the most important part of what we do. This is all in part due to our ongoing training for our staff, seminars and safety classes that we subscribe to.
