Threads Boutique, an upscale consignment store for children’s clothing and gear, opened in Evanston at 1304 Chicago Ave. in April 2016. The co-owners share a passion to care for the environment and their communities along with their combined marketing experience and experience shopping for their own children, gave birth to the concept of Threads Boutique.
Anna and Chaya, the owners of Threads Boutique are both moms of multiple children who, like most children, grow fast and like to wear good quality and fashionable clothing. They opened Threads Boutique because they passionately believe that high quality children’s fashion should be affordable.
They realized, by opening an upscale children’s consignment store in Evanston, they could give local moms a choice not to spend a lot of money/pay full retail price for clothing their children will quickly outgrow. In addition, local moms have the opportunity to make some money on the clothes their children have already outgrown?
Threads Boutique is all about doing their part to ensure that clothing, footwear and gear that are in excellent condition continue to add value to families in their communities — whether that is buying for like-new children’s clothing and gear from local families or providing an important outlet for families on a budget to shop for upscale children’s wear.
Anna and Chaya love their local Evanston and Skokie communities and it is their goal to support those families in the community with Threads Boutique. It’s easy to consign and you will always find something new when you shop.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We love the local Evanston shopping district we are in and the support that we get from the Main-Dempster Mile. The loyal customers and consigners we have all express how happy they are to have a consignment shop in Evanston.
The main challenge that we face now is getting the word out about the store so everyone knows we are here and what a great value we offer to everyone who shops for kids clothing and gear.
