Meet Bryan Herb of Zoom Vacations in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Herb.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
September 11th was a bit of a wakeup call for myself and my business partner, Joel Cabrera. We realized that life is too short to not be doing what you love, and following your passions.

Our greatest passion was travel and we saw a need that was not being filled. So many travel companies are either luxury-focused for the sake of being luxury or they focused on backpacker, more adventurous experiences.

Zoom Vacations marries both. Trips are full of culture, history, spirituality and soft adventure while staying in the best hotels, dining in sensational restaurants, and providing opportunities for pampering throughout. We also create one-of-a-kind special events in each destination–things one could not do on their own. The results are vacations that heal the soul, inspire the mind and pamper the heart.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge has always been how to convey the added value that we bring to the table and how to adequately express the “Zoom Difference”. Anyone can go to South Africa, but Zoom South Africa is a different kind of experience. Every detail is carefully researched and thought-out and full of unexpected wonderful surprises.

Another challenge when organizing tours around the world, especially to exotic locales, is dealing with changes in political climates and attitudes, and changes if foreign relations. For instance, several years ago, we had the fastest selling trip in our history, which was to Egypt. The trip was sold out a year in advance, but then we ended up having to cancel it due to the uprising. Cuba is another good example of a destination which is hard to plan because ease of travel to Cuba changes based on who is in the Whitehouse.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Zoom Vacations – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Zoom Vacations has discovered an alternative to the model of the high-volume, non-stop partying, “check off the list” travel. Instead, we bring together small groups of guests served by a staff of experienced and dedicated professionals from each destination along with a Zoom Concierge who will ensure every step of the way is as smooth as possible.

We create custom itineraries that allow you to see the top attractions, yet are balanced by experiences that are unique to a specific time and place.

The result is a truly intimate, enriching and relaxing experience, embodied with a sense of elegance, even in the most unexpected places.

Each vacation is different in its mood and feel. Yet, each leaves an impression that stays with you.

I am most proud of our special events we create around the world and this is what sets us apart from the rest. Whether it’s cooking in the private home of a famous Brazilian chef, getting blessed by a real Inca shaman in a temple of Machu Picchu or entering a private African Party on the banks of the Zambezi River by elephant back, Zoom Vacations brings unmatched experiences, showing our travelers more than just a good time.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We definitely want to write a book, and we are developing much content for vlogging and blogging. More and more outlets are reaching out to us for our travel and destination expertise and we look forward to working with more media channels in the future.

And of course, we are constantly evolving our portfolio to include a great variety of destinations and experiences. For instance, we recently added tours to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

My husband and have taken eight trips with Zoom Vacations. It was money very well spent. The memories that Bryan and Joel’s company have helped create are too numerous to mention. We have traveled with other gay travel companies, and I can tell you that they don’t hold a candle Zoom. Their expertise in finding incredible hotels, and unique experiences can’t be beat.
