Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Banahan.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My tattoo career began a little atypical, since I had no artistic background whatsoever. I started out as a body piercer, then a body suspension practitioner, and only started learning how to draw when I was learning how to tattoo. My tattoo apprenticeship was strenuous, but condensed, as I was learning under several other extremely talented artists. After that initial studio, I bounced around shops until I found myself at Aztek Ink. Aztek Ink’s environment, artwork, and atmosphere are unparalleled to other studios.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was unquestionably finding the right studio to work in. Being in a studio that has a poor environment can be very afflicting to your artwork. Along with finding a good environment, policies have to be functional for every individual.
Aztek Ink – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in realistic tattooing. I do other styles of tattooing occasionally, but mainly try to focus on realism. I always take my time on every tattoo to make sure it’s done to the best of my ability. Doing realism makes you very patient.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every time I finish a large project, it’s always exciting. I don’t think I’ve reached my “proudest” moment yet in tattooing, because I am always striving to do better.
