Meet Bridget Trainer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Trainer.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My fitness career started out much like a sitcom. I was literally THROWN up on stage with a mic and a mix-tape to teach a beginner aerobics class.

In college, I was broke and wanted a free gym membership to keep me in shape and sane. Working at a gym was the most logical route for a free membership–not only would I get the membership, but I would get PAID to be there! Making the most out of the freebies (and not having enough money to have a social life), I took all the classes I could handle. So, when an instructor didn’t show to teach her class, I was asked to take over. Being insecure and on the shy side, I declined the offer, but the members weren’t taking no for an answer. I discovered a side of me I didn’t know I had! Not only did I have a knack for teaching, but I could do it in front of a large group AND make it fun!

That was almost 20-years ago. During that time, my training methods and philosophies have changed along with my personal experiences and enlightenments about my own body and mind. Being in my early-40’s, I relate to those women who still feel and look young, but are acknowledging that they need to make some changes in their lifestyle to accommodate the effects of time. And that we have no time! I design workouts for the busy woman who is short on time and needs a workout that can be done on her own time in her own home.

I have worked with celebrities and volunteered my time empowering low-income women with working out and I can tell you…we all have the same concerns and the same insecurities. It’s amazing how a fitness program can increase confidence in anyone. It is my greatest reward seeing my clients become the best versions of themselves.

I’m loving that I can take fitness virtually and train my clients online. That was not possible 20yrs ago. I can be anywhere in the world and train anyone anywhere in the world. I even have a client in Dubai right now!

Has it been a smooth road?
When I began fitness training 20yrs ago, my biggest struggles were trying to make the tight and leotard look complete and trying to sneak across the room in pants that made a “whoosh” sound with every step.

My latest struggle has been taking my business online. I found it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be! It just took a lot of time and doing a little bit of something every single day to work toward my goal. Trying anything new is scary; I just needed to take action and give it a try. It was all a reminder to practice what I preach when I start a program with my clients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Bridget Trainer – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Ever take a look at a fitness class and think, “Oh, hell no! There’s no way I can do that!” I specialize in working with those people who think they can’t. The clients are see most often are busy women in their late-3os to early 50s who are still feeling sexy and youthful, but are recognizing changes in their bodies.

Since my online workouts are designed to be done any time and at-home, my clients find they can get amazing results without even setting foot in a gym setting.

My latest proudest accomplishment is my personalized app (“Bridget Trainer” in the app store). I spent hours recording demo videos of exercises so that a client sees a visual of the exercise in their workout for that day. I love everything about the app… I can see when a client has completed their workout, be able to track progress, and give nutritional advice. I absolutely LOVE it.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love all of the culture and diversity the city has to offer. I’m a foodie, so all the ethnic foods I can experience are definitely a plus.

I’m going to point out the obvious of what I like least about Chicago…the winters. But, having travelled all over the world, there is no place I would rather live.
