Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Galloway.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brett. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was in high school I always wanted to work with hair. I worked at a salon at a receptionist during my senior year. I went to college and got my bachelor’s degree and in the process of that I met my husband and his mother owned her own salon and I started working for her as a receptionist. She encouraged me to go to beauty school and a month after I graduated from college I started beauty school. After I finished I apprenticed and worked at Hera under my husband’s cousin, who owned the salon. A year later she became pregnant and asked my husband and I if we would like to purchase the business. We have kept it in the family and it is a family ran business. My mother in law also rents a booth in the salon.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well the salon really came as a blessing. Although it is not always easy owning a salon, my family has been a great help in all of this.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our hair salon is a small 4 chair booth rented salon that also has an in-house Aesthetician. I am the owner along with my husband and an independent hairstylist. I specialize in hair cutting, color such as; balayage, highlighting, etc. I also am certified in GK smoothing Treatments and Brazilian Blowouts. What sets us apart from others is that our company is family oriented and anyone who comes to join our business becomes part of our family.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up you never would have thought I would be where I am today! I was going to go to law school. I was a bit of a tom boy when I was younger and I didn’t know how to wear makeup until my roommate in college taught me how! I have always been a bit of a social butterfly, easy to talk to, and easy to get along with! I loved running and playing softball when I was younger but, I was also the girl who colored, cut and styled my friends hair for dances. I guess I grew up with it. My grandmother was a hairdresser and I guess that part rubbed off on me at a young age!
